Project Description

Colton Power is an electric utility in the City of Colton, CA providing peak power support to the local grid. This project was designed to meet California peak power demands in a reliable and environmentally responsible manner.  The two Colton Power Facilities, Century and Drews, are located on leased property within existing City of Colton substations.

Our Role

Johnson-Peltier Electrical, with the help of several subcontractors, installed eight (8) General Electric 10-Megawatt Combustion Turbine Generation units, for the City of Colton. Black & Veatch engineered and managed the overall project for Alliance Century Project and the City of Colton. The turbines were installed at two sites in the City of Colton, California simultaneously, four (4) at the Drews site and four (4) at the Century site.

Century Project: A 40-megawatt simple cycle project consisting of four, 10-megawatt, gas turbine generators. The project, by Alliance Colton LLC, is located in the City of Colton at the existing Century Substation in San Bernardino County. The facility is part of the Independent System Operator’s reliability generation agreement.

Drews Project: A 40-megawatt, simple cycle project consisting of four, 10 megawatt, gas turbine generators. The project, by Alliance Colton LLC, is built in the City of Colton at the existing Drews Substation in San Bernardino County. The facility is part of the Independent System Operator’s reliability generation agreement.

Johnson-Peltier installed:
